A tremendous season ends for 8th grade team
by posted 12/02/2019

PAL Football 8th graders had a thrilling, 38-36, double overtime win over Springfield to advance to the Super Bowl on Sunday November 10th.

The Super Bowl was held on Nov 17th where our team unfortunately fell to a solid, unbeaten New Providence team. Congratulations to these 8th graders and coaches for a tremendous season.

Each year, the NJSYFL holds an All-Star game for the 8th graders before they graduate from youth football. The following 8th graders from Berkeley Heights were selected for this year’s game. Congratulations guys for being recognized for your consistent, stellar play:

  • Brandon Dunn
  • John Fajardo
  • Michael Geertsma
  • Christian Magliacano

Unfortunately, injuries kept Christian and John out of play. Michael and Brandon helped form the NORTH team with fellow All-Stars from Bridgewater, Kenilworth, Millburn, Morristown, Old Bridge-SWS, Parsippany, Richmond Boro, Scotch Plains-Fanwood, Sparta, Summit, and West Orange. They took on the SOUTH team, with All-Stars from Bloomfield, Chatham, Clark, Cranford, Flemington, New Providence, Perth Amboy, Port Reading/Woodbridge, Somerville/Branchburg, Somerset Hills, Springfield, and Westfield.
