Berkeley Heights PAL programs currently open for registration

Please read the entire description of the sport or event you are interested in as it will describe the age/grade restrictions and the necessary equipment needed to attend each program.


 

2021 Fall Travel Baseball

Register now for 9 regular season USABL games plus at least 1 playoff game.

The regular season begins 9/11 and lasts for 7 weeks.  USABL games are scheduled for Saturdays, with at least 2 double headers scheduled.
 
Berkeley Heights travel teams will use the same uniform as spring and summer.
 
Red/Navy teams will be formed based on league performance and spring tryout results.  There are some spring players that do not play summer, and some spring and summer players that do not play fall.  Teams in general will be formed based on what players register to play fall baseball.

2021 Summer Heights Lacrosse Camp

Due to an overwhelming request, Berkeley Heights PAL will now oer a
lacrosse camp this summer for rising 2nd-8th grade boys. Camp will be led by Coach
Peter Fusari (former head coach of St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, current longtime
head coach at Building Blocks Lacrosse Club and volunteer coach for Berkeley
Heights Lacrosse). Club lacrosse coaches along with current college players will also
be joining Coach Fusari’s camp staff.


Heights Lacrosse Camp will focus on guiding youth players to reach their true
potential through situational drills leading up to full gameplay. By reinforcing the
fundamentals of the game, building upon stick skills, and exposing campers to
advanced techniques, our coach’s goal is to improve each and every player’s
individual game. Heights Lacrosse Camp strives to be a positive and comfortable
environment for all players to learn, succeed, and most importantly...HAVE FUN!


Campers will be separated by age and playing ability. This will help each
individual player focus on improving their own skill set. All campers are required to
have full equipment (helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, arm pads, and boy’s stick).
A camp t-shirt will be provided.

PAL Wrestling 2021-22

Berkeley Heights PAL Wrestling 2021-22 season

Registration is now open for PAL Wrestling for the 2021-22 season. Practices begin in mid November and run through February. Competitions are optional, the team competes at various levels from beginner to advanced. Wrestlers who chose to compete are placed at a level approrpriate for their age, skill and experience.

 

The program is a feeder for GL and is only open to Berkeley Heights and Moutainside residents without prior approval. The majority of the GL team came through the PAL program and there are currently PAL/GL alum wrestling in college at TCNJ, Stevens and Washington & Lee among other universities. The program is open to kids in 1st to 8th grade for the 2021-22 school year. 

 

Wrestling has been show to improve fitness, conditioning and self esteem. It is a great winter sport to help baseball and lacrosse players get in shape for their spring and summer seasons.

2021 BH PAL Fall Soccer

Register now for 2021 Fall PAL soccer

Our primary goal is for players to have fun, to learn soccer skills, to be good teammates

and to love playing team sports. 

All players will receive a dri-fit team shirt, soccer ball and drawstring backpack.

Our success depends on parent volunteers to coach. Please consider volunteering, it's a very rewarding experience!!

·     Teams will be co-ed.  Practices & games will held on Saturday mornings during a combined 90-minute session at Upper Columbia field.  The season runs ten weeks from September 11 – November 13.

2021 Girls Travel Volleyball

BHPAL Middle School Girls Volleyball - 2021 Travel Team

Registration is now open for 6th, 7th and 8th grade (2021-22 school year) girls for the 2021 Travel Team. The league begins in September and ends in November (details to follow). All matches will be in played Rahway on Saturday morning. The focus of this volleyball program is to improve and refine skills (serving, passing, setting and hitting technique) and play in a more competitive environment.

*Note, you must try out for this team, participate in the BH PAL Fall Volleyball league and commit to going to practice and playing matches. Try outs will be held in August. You will be notified by a coach with the exact place, date and time.

The cost for participation is $135, includes a uniform t-shirt, entrance fee and officiationg fees. Registration ends on August 14, 2021.

2021 Highlander Youth Tackle Football

2021 Highlander Youth Tackle Football (3rd - 8th Grade)

The program is open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside students in grades 3-8. Players will be assigned to the following team levels depending on grade:

Competitive levels with scorekeeping, playoffs, and a Super Bowl:

  • A Team – Grade 8
  • B Team – Grade 7
  • C Team – Grade 6
  • D Team – Grade 5

Instructional level – live games teaching fundamentals in a competitive environment:

  • E Team – Grades 3 & 4

The season will begin August 16th with summer practices Monday-Thursday evenings at Snyder Field. Practices are held 2-3 times per week once school begins. Teams will play a total of 8 regular season games – typically scheduled on Sundays. Other Key Dates:

  • TBD July/August: Equipment & Uniform Fitting
  • August 29th (week of): League-Wide Scrimmages
  • September 11th or 12th: Season Opener
  • November 7th: Playoffs (Levels A-D only)
  • November 13th or 14th: Super Bowl (Levels A-D only)

REGISTRATION FEE: $260

EARLY REGISTRATION (PRIOR TO JUNE 19th) FEE: $220

BHPAL will provide all the necessary equipment except for football cleats, an athletic supporter, and a mouth guard. BHPAL will also provide all practice uniforms and game pants.

Personalized game jerseys – required for first time players or returning players who need a larger size – will be ordered separately at a subsidized cost of $50.

BH PAL Cheerleading 2nd-8th grade

2021 Fall PAL cheerleading registration is now open! The program will be run by former GL cheerleading coach Lisa Bussiculo and current GL cheerleading coach Emily Stecher. We are opening the program to all 2nd graders through 8th graders. Teams will be determined by grade, enrollment numbers, and skill. Players will be provided with a uniform.

The cost to participate is $60. Families should register online at www.bhpal.org.  A late fee of $20 will be charged for all registrations received after August 1st.  Early registrations enable the PAL to more accurately determine the number of coaches and uniforms needed to efficiently run the program.

2021 FALL Girls Field Hockey Travel (5th - 8th Grade)

The PAL Junior Highlanders Travel Field Hockey teams will be part of an instructional field hockey program, with a strong focus on skill development, all-player participation and fun.  All ability levels are welcome, as well as girls who may participate in other Fall sports and dance.  Since the sport is new to most, we plan to bring in outside resources to teach skills and drills during some of our practices.

The program is open to Berkeley Heights and Mountainside girls in grades 5-8* and season will run from early September until mid-November.  We will be members of the Mid NJ Youth Field Hockey league, playing teams from Scotch Plains, Summit, Basking Ridge, Branchburg, Chatham, Glen Ridge, Madison, Millburn, Readington, and Hillsborough.  

*any experienced 4th grade girls interested in playing on travel team should contact phouse@bhpal.org.

 
When:   Sunday games (between 10am-3pm), with 2 practices each week

2021 Girls Volleyball

BHPAL Middle School Girls Volleyball - Fall 2021

Registration is now open for 6th, 7th and 8th grade (2021-22 school year) girls for the Fall 2021 volleyball season. The season begins the week of September 13 and ends the week of October 27 (7 weeks). The focus of this volleyball program is to teach basic volleyball skills (serving, passing, setting and hitting technique) and game rules. Our primary goal is for the girls to have fun and to love playing volleyball! The players will be placed on in-town teams with practices and games on Monday and Wednesday evenings. You will receive your team assignment at the end of August.

The cost for participation is $135, includes a uniform t-shirt and referees. No registration will be accepted after September 1st. 

As with all BHPAL programs, our success depends on parent volunteers to coach. Please consider volunteering, especially if you have volleyball experience!! We will have a coaches clinic and meeting the week of August 29th. It is a short season and lots of fun!
