Berkeley Heights PAL programs currently open for registration

Please read the entire description of the sport or event you are interested in as it will describe the age/grade restrictions and the necessary equipment needed to attend each program.

PAL Wrestling 2023-24

BH PAL wrestling is open to all Berkeley Heights and Mountainside residents from grades 1-8. (Out of district requires approval and may be subject to an additional fee.)

Wrestlers will practice either 1 or 2 days per week depending on age and ability. The season runs from mid November through February.  Competitions are optional and will generally be on weekends.

Registration fee includes tee shirt and sweats. Wrestlers who are competing will be given a singlet for the season, it must be returned at the end of the year. Wrestlers must provide their own wrestling shoes (though we do have a big selection of "hand me downs" ) and headgear.

The 2023 GL wrestling team, composed of almost exclusively former BH PAL wrestlers, made the first team state finals in GL history. 4 individual wrestlers, all of whom came through the PAL program, qualified for the state tourney in Atlantic City. This was a school record. Be part of the current and future success!

2023-24 Boys In-town Basketball

Registration is now open for 2023-2024 Berkeley Heights Boys' IN-TOWN PAL basketball.

The program is open to Berkeley Heights boys, grades 3 through 8, and all ability levels are eligible to play. Every child that participates on a Berkeley Heights travel basketball team is REQUIRED to register and play on an in-town team. You will need to register under both programs.

There will be four leagues:

  • 3rd Grade Boys (typically games on Saturday)
  • 4th Grade Boys
  • 5th/6th Grade Boys
  • 7th/8th Grade Boys

Objective

The objective of the in-town program is to introduce the game of basketball in an organized manner which will foster an environment of instruction and teamwork and promote safety and sportsmanship.

There are no tryouts to participate in the in-town PAL program. All boys who register will be placed on a team. The goal is to place boys playing on a travel team equally amongst the number of teams in the respective grade level program. Non-travel team boys will be assigned a team based on input from the Berkeley Heights Boys' commissioner and volunteer coaches with the goal to make the teams as fair and balanced as possible. At times, it may be necessary to redistribute boys to ensure the teams and games are as competitive as possible.

Commitment

Teams will play for one hour typically on Saturday morning, consisting of a short practice and a 40-minute game. The season will start in early December and run through the end of February or early March.

Registration

Registration will remain open through October  31stThe participation fee for the program is $125.00. All players will receive a team jersey for participating. Please indicate your son's shirt size when registering.

Volunteer Opportunities

We need volunteer coaches and this program cannot succeed without your help. If you are interested in coaching, please be sure to indicate that while registering your son online.

Please take note: All boys participating on a travel team are required to play in the In-town league and attend 75 percent of the games or you cannot take a spot on a travel team. There will be no exceptions to this rule.
